Oppo A98

The Oppo A98 is a mid-range Android phone that offers a balance of performance, and efficient battery life.

It parades a 6.72-inch IPS LCD display with 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

Also in the mix, is a triple-rear camera array that is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G processor.

It is Oppo’s first A Series line-up with SuperVOOC fast charging technology.

It draws power from a 5000 mAh battery with 8GB RAM and 256GB built-in storage.

Design-wise, the Oppo A98 wears similar with the Oppo Reno8T smartphone.

It bears a slender profile of 7.7mm thick while the back edges is fitted with a refreshing 3D micro-curved design.

This enhance grip, providing a secure one hand usage.

Like most OPPO devices, the power button which is embedded with fingerprint scanner is located on the right.

The volume rocker and a SIM/MicroSD tray are placed on the left.

The top spot a tiny microphone hole while the bottom rocks an audio jack, USB Type-C port and a bottom firing speaker.

There’s also a microphone hole at the bottom as well.

The A98 comes in Cool Black and Dreamy Blue colour finishes.



Upfront is a large 6.72-inch IPS LCD display with 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution and 680 nits of brightness.

The minimal bezel around the screen, gives the device an 86.5% screen-to-body ratio, thus, ensuring wider viewing content.

Furthermore, the hole-punch display has a 120Hz refresh rate and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut.

This ensures fluid andresponsive on-screen transition as well as accurate life-like colour reproduction respectively.


The Oppo A98 is equipped with a versatile triple camera setup, headlined by a 64MP primary camera with PDAF (Phase Detection Autofocus).

Backing the main camera are 2MP microscope camera as well as a 2MP depth sensor.

The rear camera supports HDR technology which reduce noise and increase image clarity.

In addition, the camera setup on the rear also feature several mode including ultra night mode, Pro mode, Panorama mode, and lot more.

For video recording, 1080p video resolution at up to 60 frames per second can be captured.

Moving on to the front, a 32MP sensor housed in a hole-punch cutout ensures sterling selfie shot.

The camera also supports several camera modes such as AI beauty, Portrait mode, Ultra night mode, and 1080p video recording capped at 30 frames per second.


Hardware and Software

Beneath the chassis, is Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 processor with 6nm built architecture.

This chip found in the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite, the Poco X5 5G, and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro + 5G.

The octa-core CPU configuration is clocked at 2.2 GHz backed by Adreno 619 GPU for smooth graphics processing that ensures a balanced performance and energy efficient user experience.

The Oppo device comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage, with expandable option of up to 1TB via microSD card.

For software, the Oppo A98 smartphone boots on Android 13 operating system with Oppo’s custom skin, ColorOS 13.



For connectivity, the Oppo device supports dual SIM with 5G network as well as 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C port, Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi 6 and GPS navigation system.



A 5000 mAh battery fits beneath the chassis with support for 67W superVOOC fast charging technology, allowing for quick top up while recharging.

The price of Oppo A98 starts at $ 315. In Nigeria, the Oppo A98 price ranges from about ₦130,000 to ₦150,000.
