Design

Design-wise, the Poco F5 Pro takes same designs language from the base variant.

It has a sleek and trendy design that is both functionally and aesthetically pleasing.

Unlike the base variant, the phone is built in glass back and front, clipped together by a plastic frame.

The back panel has curved around the edges to make it sit comfortably in the hand.

Instead of the circular camera rings, the back arrives with a rectangular camera protrusion with a metal frame around it, adding a classy feel and a premium aesthetics.

The phone measures 162.8 x 75.4 x 8.6 mm and 204 grams is a touch bigger and heavier than the standard model.

The placements and buttons are quite similar with the F5, although with few modifications.

While both models have USB-C port and SIM tray on the bottom edge, only the standard variant finds room for a 3.5-mm audio jack at the top.

The smartphone also sport an IR blaster at the top which acts as a TV remote control.

The side mounted fingerprint scanner on the right side of the F5, has been moved to the display.

Like the standard version, the phone only gets an IP53 rating. This means splashes of water is fine, but do not submerge.

The F5 Pro comes in two colour finishes –  white and black.

While the white is dull with marbled effect, the black on the other hand has a carbon-fibre texture running diagonally along the sides of the glass back.

Display

Just like the standard model, the Poco F5 Pro boast of a 6.67-inch AMOLED dot-display which offers immersive visual experience.

But unlike the standard model, the Pro model has a higher resolution and it’s slightly more responsive, ditching the full HD+ resolution of the standard model to a WQHD+ resolution that offers 1440 x 3200 pixel and 526ppi pixel density.

This keeps it on par with the likes of Samsung S23 Ultra, Xiaomi 13 Pro and even  OnePlus 11.

The display also supports HDR in the Dolby Vision and HDR 10+ flavours.

The display can hit up to 1400 nits brightness in HDR mode which is bright and legible enough in bright sunlight.

Furthermore, it support 68 billion colours with 120Hz refresh for smooth transition across frames and 240Hz touch sampling rate.

The screen is reinforced in Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection to prevent cracks and scratch-resistant.

Camera

The tri-rear-camera lens in Poco  F5 Pro is identical to the standard model.

While one of the camera stands out, the other two are underwhelming.

The camera system is headlined by a 64MP main camera, using a ½-inch sensor made by OmniVision.

The main camera supports phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and optical image stabilization (OIS).

It bins down to 16.1MP image quality ensuring sharper and well detailed shots in good lighting conditions.

The other two sensors include an 8MP ultrawide lens with 120° field of view and the 2MP macro lens.

One difference between the Pro and the standard model is that, while the Pro can record 8K video, the standard model is limited to 4K.

On the front is a 16MP front-facing camera that captures beautiful selfie as well as video calls.

Hardware and Software

In terms of hardware, the Poco F5 Pro is fitted with flagship-level Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, which is seen in OnePlus 10T, Oppo Find X5 Pro, OnePlus 10 Pro and OnePlus Ace Pro.

The 4nm chip is paired to an Adreno 730 graphic processor and an ample RAM storage options of 8GB and 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM.

This provide solid performance both in gaming and switching between apps.

However, the built-in storage comes in two options of 256GB and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage, but don’t expect further expansion.

Moving on to the software, the Poco F5 Pro boots on Xiaomi’s MIUI 14, which is based on Android 13 operating system.

Connectivity

In terms of connectivity, the phone supports blazing-fast 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and GPS.

It also has a USB Type-C 2.0 and dual nano SIM functionality.

Battery

The Poco is fuelled by a 5160 mAh battery which is slightly bigger than the standard model.

Also, this battery supports 67W wired SuperVOOC charging brick which can charge the device from 1% – 100% in less than 50 minutes.

Unlike the standard counterpart, it also support 30W wireless fast charging.
