Umidigi G3 Plus

The Umidigi G3 Plus is a affordable budget smartphone that sits comfortably between the base model, Umidigi G3 and the Pro model, Umidigi G3 Max in terms of specifications.

While it retain same design and build setup as its counterparts, the G3 Plus offers few upgrades which include a faster processor, improved camera setup, and increased built-in storage.

Aside that, all other features tally with that of the base model.

Design

If you’ve seen the standard Umidigi G3, then, you’d know there’s no difference, design wise.

It still parade the same enhanced leather-like design, although build material is made of plastic.

The design evoke a distinctive aesthetic coupled with great in-hand feel.

The device also boast of skin-friendly properties as well as resistance to fingerprints and dirt.

The back cover bears a dual camera unit and a dual-LED flash occupying the top left corner.

The Umidigi branding aligns vertically on the bottom right corner.

In addition, the phone comes with a slim-profile and lightweight measuring 164 x 75.89 x 8.8 mm in dimension and 192 grams respectively.

This makes it relatively compact and portable to carry around with one hand usage.

Around the edges we have a fingerprint embedded power button on the right.

All other placements and buttons are similar with the standard model.

The G3 Plus arrives in the same colour ways as the standard model, with Lavender Purple, Dark Green and Graphite Black finishes.

 

Display

The Umidigi G3 Plus retains the same 6.52-inch dew-drop display with HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels.

Although it features IPS display, users can enjoy an immersive visual experience.

With an average margin of brightness, you can comfortably use the device indoors, but on a bright sunny day, you just need to find a shadow.

The display bezels offers what you’d expect from a device belonging to the lower price segment.

Furthermore, it boast of a 120Hz touch sampling rate and 20:9 aspect ratio.

 

Camera

The dual-camera unit on the back consist of a 16MP main camera, a shift from the 13MP camera on the standard model.

This is supported by a 2MP depth sensor, which easily highlight close-up object with bokeh background effect.

On the front side, the camera was ramped from 5MP to 8MP selfie camera housed in the dew-drop notch.

These upgrade can’t be considered as full-bore replacement.

But in overall, daylight imagery seems decent while night shot is likely to disappoint due to its heavy noisy and low detail.

 

Hardware and Software

While the standard model got a quad-core Mediatek Helio A22 processor, the Umidigi G3 Plus on the other hand got an octa-core Unisoc T606 processor.

This chipset, which clocked up to 2.0 GHz combines with low-level Mali G57 MC1 graphics chip and 4G of RAM to ensure smooth running of the device.

Though the RAM storage can be extended up to 4G via virtual RAM, the internal memory size has also been ramped from 64GB to 128GB, which is quite pleasing.

You can also expand the internal memory up to 1TB but not without sacrificing one of your SIM cards.

The Umidigi G3 Plus breathes on Android 13 Operating system.

 

Connectivity

The Umidigi G3 Plus featured a dual-SIM support, GPS, WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0.

Furthermore, there’s also an FM radio, 3.5mm audio jack and USB type-C port for charging and transfer of data.

 

Battery

Just like Umidigi C2 and G2, the Umidigi phone is also powered by a 5150mAh battery, which delivers good battery life and supports 10W charging.

 

Umidigi G3 Plus Price and Availability

The price of Umidigi G3 Plus starts at $129.99.

In Nigeria, the Umidigi G3 Plus cost about ‎₦110,000.

The smartphone was announced on May 4, 2023 and was made available for purchase on May 12, 2023.
