Xiaomi Mix 4: Specifications, Price and Review

Xiaomi Mix 4

Xiaomi Mix 4 may not be Xiaomi’s foray into under-display cameras, but it’s the first time Xiaomi has pushed this technology to market, making it available for purchase by enthusiasts. Putting that under-display camera aside, the Mix 4 offers a premium flagship package that seems to cost less than the vast majority of gamers in this category.

Design and display

The design of the Mix 4 may not be an exact replica of another Xiaomi smartphone, but it is somewhat reminiscent of the Xiaomi Mi Ultra.

Of course, the star of this design is the front panel. Xiaomi was able to wipe the slate clean thanks to its under-display camera technology. That means no notches, no punch-hole camera, no cutouts.

As mentioned in the introductory paragraph, this is not the first time that Xiaomi has shown this technology, but it is the first time that it has come to market.

In addition to having the under the display camera, Xiaomi also places an optical fingerprint sensor under the display, which is no longer not new, considering that in the past we have seen many smartphones with this technology.

Flipping the device over to get a rear view reveals a square camera module with a rounded edge that houses three cameras.

Also on the back there is the Xiaomi branding, which indicates that it is a Xiaomi smartphone.

The smartphone is available in three color options including Ceramic Black, Ceramic White, and Shadow Gray.

As for the camera data sheet, the Mix 4 stands solid as it fits into a seemingly impressive camera setup.

On the back we have a 108MP main camera with f/1.9 aperture, 8MP periscope telephoto lens with f/4.1 aperture, 13MP ultra wide camera with 123° field of view. Video recording on this configuration is limited to 8K at 24 fps.

Moving on to the selfie side, we have a 20MP under-display camera. This shooter is capable of recording video up to 1080p @ 30fps.

Hardware and Software

The performance of the Mix 4 is top of the line, as discussed in the introductory paragraph.

Its performance configuration is its Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ processor. There’s also the Adreno 660 Graphics card, 8GB/12GB RAM options.

On the software side, we have MIUI 2.5 user interface running on Android 11 operating system.

Xiaomi Mix 4 is equipped with Bluetooth 5.2, NFC and a USB TypeC 2.0 port. Note that there’s no 3.5mm headphone jack here, but you can listen to audio privately using type headphones or wireless headphones.

Internet connectivity on this device is limited to 5G, which means users will be able to use 5G connectivity for downloads, downloads, and streaming.

Fueling the Mix 4 is a 4500mAh non-removable battery. There is also a 120W fast wired charging, and 50W wireless charging.

Xiaomi Mix 4 Pricing and Availability

Xiaomi Mix 4 is retailed around $772, which translates to 318,399 Naira in Nigeria, 84,644 KSH in Kenya, 4,658 GHC in Ghana.

Xiaomi Mix 4 was announced on August 10, 2021 and has been on sale since August 16.
