One of Africa’s leading smartphone manufacturer Tecno mobile has officially announced an additions to it’s line of Camon series, the Tecno Camon 15 series.

Like other newest products, the Camon 15 series is an upgrade of it’s predecessor the Camon 12 series which was launched last year.

The Tecno Camon 15 Series comes in four version which are the Regular, Air, Premier And Pro.

Design and Display

The Tecno Camon 15 series brings a whole new vibe to Tecno smartphones design. It features a textural Tecno smartphones with designs similar to it’s predecessor.

On the rear, is a textural line pattern that appears to be faux brushed plastic, alongside a gradient emanating from the edges. It also has an array of quad cameras, a capacitive finger sensor and the logo on the rear.

Upfront, both Air and Pro features a 6.55-inch IPS LCD Display, 720 x 1600 Pixels, (268 ppi) while Pro and Premier features a 6.53 IPS LCD display and a 1080 x 2340 Pixels, (395 ppi).

It is built with Gorilla glass 3 front and a plastic back and a plastic frame.

The Tecno Camon 15 series comes in different colours, the Tecno Camon 15 Pro and Premium comes in two color options which are Ice Jadeite and Opal White.

While Malachite Blue / Ice Lake Blue / Misty Grey options for Air and Shoal Gold, Fascinating Purple and Dark Jade for Regular.Tecno Camon 15 series phones

The Cameras

The rear

The Tecno Camon 15 series features a quad (4) sensors at the rear comprising of a 48MP main sensor, a 5MP ultra-wide sensor, a 2MP dedicated macro lens and a 2MP Ultra Night Lens, along with 4-LED flashes. The Tecno Camon 15 Premier has a 64MP shooter x 5MP ultra-wide sensor, a 0.3-MP night lens and 2MP macro lens.

For selfie

On the front, there is a single motorized pop camera of 16MP sensor for regular, 8MP for air, 32MP for Premium and Pro, capable of AI shots along with a single LED flash, face beautification and FaceID.

This camera setup will allow you to take photos in HDR and Panorama, as well as shoot 1080p videos at 30fps.

Hardware and Software

Though the Tecno Camon 15 series software is an upgrade of it’s predecessor, it’s still far from impressive.

The Regular and Air draws strength from Octa-core Mediatek Helio P22 processor clocked at 2.0GHz, while the Premier and Pro are powered by Octa-core Meditek Helio P35 Processor clocked at 2.35GHz.

On the software side, the Tecno Camon 15 series runs HIOS 6.0 on top of the Android 10 operating system.

Air comes with 3GB, Regular 4GB and Premier and Pro comes with a 6GB of RAM,


128GB of internal storage which can be expandable up to 256 GB via micro SDcard.


The Tecno Camon 15 series features a 3.5mm jack, Wi-Fi, Micro-USB USB 2.0 and Bluetooth 5.1.

Internet connectivity here is capped at 4G LTE as it doesn’t support the 5G network.


Air and Regular are fuelled by a non-removable 5000mAh Li-Po battery while Pro and Premier are fuelled by a non-removable 4000mAh Li-Po battery.

Tecno Camon 15 Price and Availability

The price of the Tecno Camon 15 regular is around $147, which is about 53,728 Naira, 15,000 Kenyan shillings, and 795 Ghana cedi while Tecno Camon 15 Pro is around $209, which is about 76,285 Naira, 21,464 Kenyan shillings, and 1,136 Ghana cedi and Tecno Camon 15 Premier is around $243, which is about 95,000 in Nigerian Nara, 26,071 Kenyan shillings, 1,398 Ghana cedi.

The Tecno camon 15 series was announced on February 21, 2020, but was officially launched in Nigeria on April 3, 2020 and is currently available for purchase.


The low point is that it doesn’t feature a USB type c, no fast charging, 1080p display, AMOLED display instead of FHD+, regular update system and a HELIO P35 when there’s a Snapdragon. The major selling point of the Camon 15-series is the camera optics, battery life and maybe it affordability. For other specs you can check here.
