If you are looking for a budget-friendly smartphone, with 5G connectivity and a high refresh rate of 120Hz display, for less than $300, the Realme X50M 5G got you covered.

The unveiling of this smartphone makes it the third of the X50series and a younger sibling of the premium variant, Realme X50 Pro 5G.

The device bangs exciting specs for nearly half the price if its premium sibling.

Design and Display

The Realme X50M showcases a sleek design with an all glass build giving it a premium body looks. The eye-catching rear panel is mounted by a pill-shaped camera bump and the brand name flanks at the bottom, indicating it’s a Realme smartphone.

On the front it sports a smaller pill-shaped cutout placed on the top left of it’s 6.57-inch IPS LCD full HD+ display. The almost bezel-less display, touts a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, a density of 399 PPI and an aspect ratio of 20:9.

The Corning Gorilla protected display also embeds an in-display fingerprint scanner, supporting a 120Hz refresh rate as opposed to 90Hz refresh rate on the premium variant.

With a 90.4 percent screen-to-body ratio of 90.4 percent, it body measures 163.8 x 75.8 x 8.9 mm in dimensions and 194 grams of weight.

The device is available in two colourways; Starry Blue and Galaxy White.


Compared to the other X50 sibling, its sub-par camera setup left much to be desired.

The quad-camera setup on the back panel touts a 48MP main sensor, a 119-degree 8MP ultra-wide sensor and two 2MP sensors, one for macro and one for portrait shots.

These cameras can record up to 4K videos at 30fps whereas the front-facing camera support up to 2k video recording at 30fps.

On the front, it packs a dual selfie camera of 16MP main camera assisted by a 2MP depth sensor which still trail behind the Realme X50 5G with 16MP + 8MP snapper.

Hardware and Software

From the performance point of view, Realme slightly downgraded the processor to Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G based on 7nm process technology, clocked at 2.4GHz octa-core CPU while graphics are processed by its Adreno 620 GPU.

The software runs on the Realme UI skin based Android 10 operating system.


Task are manned by up to 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM is paired to a 128GB in-built UFS 2.1 fast storage option and no card slot for expansion.


From the intro, the Realme X50M has 5G support, dual-SIM, Dual-Band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, GLONASS Navigation technologies, NFC, USB Type-C, 1216 ultra-liner speakers with support for Hi-Res audio and Dolby panoramic sound effects but unfortunately, there is no 3.5mm Jack.


Backing this smartphone is a 4200mAh battery capacity which comes with 30W Dart charging technology, which tops up 70% charge in 30 minutes and 100% in 59 minutes.

Realme X50M 5G Price and Availability

The price of the Realme X50M 5G starts at $282, for the base 6 GB RAM + 128 GB model which cost about 125,000 Naira in Nigeria, 1,800 Ghs in Ghana and 32,000 Ksh in Kenya.

While the maxed out 8 GB RAM + 128 GB model sells for $324.
