OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro

The OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro are one of the most anticipated smartphones of 2020, as rumors would have us believe.

2019 the company split its lineup between the flagship specs at a mid-range price in the OnePlus 7 and the more polished (upgrade) true budget flagship OnePlus 7 Pro. 2020 it seems like it going to be the same.

Design and Display

The OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro like it predecessors, the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro it has some similarities in design and some specs.

The OnePlus 8 comes with a 6.55 inch Super AMOLED screen display with a Full HD+ with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2400, a screen density of 402 ppi and a 90Hz refresh rate while the OnePlus 8 Pro comes with a 6.78 inch Super AMOLED screen display, a QHD+ with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2400, a screen density of 402 ppi, a 120Hz refresh rate.

OnePlus 8 Pro is also protected by HDR10 + Corning Gorilla Glass protection, and IP68 water resistant rating. The display also houses the punch hole camera.

The dimensions measures 160.2 x 72.9 x 8.1 mm.

The Camera

The OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro series comes with the rear camera and a front camera.

Rear camera

OnePlus 8 comes with a Triple Primary Cameras consisting of a 48 MP Primary Camera.

(0.8µm pixel size), 16 MP, Wide Angle, a 2MP, Depth Camera and a LED Flash, while OnePlus 8 Pro is said to feature a Quad Rear Camera setup consisting of 48MP + 48MP + 8MP + 5MP camera combo with LED Flash.

The Camera Features also includes a digital zoom, auto flash, face detection, touch to focus, high dynamic range mode (HDR), continuous shooting and lots more.

Hardware and Software

We’ve also heard severally that the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro will use the top-end Snapdragon 865 chipset and Octa core (2.84 GHz, Single Core + 2.42 GHz, Tri core + 1.8 GHz, Quad core).

The graphics is powered by an Andreno 650 GPU.

RAM and storage configuration begins at 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB of internal storage.It does not have a Micro-SD Support.

The smartphone runs on Android™ v10 (Q) Operating.


The OnePlus 8 is powered by a non-removable 4300mAh Li-Po battery, while the Pro is powered by 4510 mAh. The Pro has wired and wireless charging and 3W reverse wireless charging, and the standard model will have a 4,300mAh battery with 30W charging but no wireless charging.

They both support 30W fast charging.


It feature a G-Sensor, an ambient light sensor, a proximity Sensor, accelerometer, compass, gyroscope and a capacitive fingerprint sensor.

Other features

Both devices are 5G enabled. That follows the previous claim from the company that it was going “all in on 5G.”

OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro Price and Availability

The standard OnePlus 8 wouldn’t cost less than $599 / £549 / AED 1,949 (around AU$868).

Likewise, we don’t anticipate the Pro to cost less than $699 / £699 / AED 2,699 (around AU$1,010).

The phone will cost less than the newly launched Galaxy S20 series, the CEO Pete Lau says.

It’s expected to be launched on April 14, 2020 (Expected).
